I'm looking for volunteers who are willing to dig into the various sites on the list in http://bugs.dwscoalition.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3707, and point me to the right direction of the proper format of the embed code for each site.

What I need:

* an example of the embed code, preferably a couple so I can compare. You'll probably want to put this into a <textarea rows=20 cols=40>(embed code here)</textarea< so you don't have to worry about escaping the code.

* I'm assuming that these are iframe embeds because those are what require whitelisting; embeds which use the <embed> tag don't need any special-casing.

* don't feel like you have to volunteer to get them all. It looks like some of these need an account before you can find the bits that are embeddable, so if you have an account on these services just the one or two would be very helpful!

* absolutely no rush :-)

I have Soundcloud embeds on [community profile] onesongaday. These are not iframe embeds but they're not embedded correctly. Dreamwidth displays a truncated version of the player. Here's an example of what it looks like on DW: http://onesongaday.dreamwidth.org/79271.html. And here's an example of what it should look like: http://prettymuchamazing.com/music/stream/recd-new-four-tet-locked.

Example codes:

Since in Japanese, is slightly confusing, but I think I figured it out. I don't know which one you needed, so I included both.

I might have grabbed code from a "live" video, but the general construct should be the same. Here's one from an older video that's from 2010. I'm unsure if NicoNico allows for full video embed... I think they just do the thumbnail & expect people to click through. /shrug

I'm not sure there is an embed code for Plurk. I was looking around the site, and it seems as though they accept embed codes from other sites.

From their FAQ:

When you plurk a web address that ends with .gif, .jpg or .png (for example: http://photobucket.com/image/cat/erinstevens34/cat.jpg), Plurk automatically generates a thumbnail image for you. The same happens when you plurk with Youtube's embed url, such as: http://youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0

I think Twitter is the same in this regard. I know if you are using a desktop client (such as TweetDeck) and someone links to a YouTube video, then said video pops up in the client & you can either view it there or in your browser.

I just don't think there are specific embed codes for them.

(That's the complete code it gives you, which is obviously the iframe followed by the link.)
