That's more or less what I've been up to lately as well, although mine is going away I think. But in addition, I've been playing around a lot with Chromevox and I really like it. It's the extension for Google Chrome that makes the browser talk. While not a full-fledged screen reader, I've found it to work great. And yes, it seems very good on Dreamwidth.
